"Your captain called you Rab, is that correct?"
"Yes, sir, he did."
"Unusual name. Is it short for something?"
"It's not my name, sir. It's short for 'rabbit.' " I recoiled when he took my chin in his hand, but did not protest. The spicy-sweet smell was stronger now.
Captain Clement studied me as dispassionately as if I were a chart. "I'm afraid I see no resemblance to a rabbit in your appearance. Were you once a lad whose face has since grown to fit his teeth?"
"It's not for looking like a rabbit, sir. My name's Albert Hare."
"Ah! Rabbit, Hare. Shortened to Rab. I like it."
"Thank you, sir."
"It doesn't have to be 'sir.' You can also address me as Captain Clement, or 'my sweet master.'"
Was he joking? I didn't know how to react.
Clement sighed. "Does your captain use you himself, or share you with a few favored officers? You don't look like the entire crew's been at you."
"I don't know what you mean, sir. I serve Captain Neeman, and assist the others as he orders me."
"Anyone on the crew, then, might avail himself of your services, if your captain orders it so?"
"It's my duty to obey his orders, sir. I don't mind. He hand-picks his crew, all good men. Unlike yours."
Captain Clement laughed. "Is that the way of it? Odd, how my crew of bad men bested your crew of good men, killed not a one–barely drew blood, your crew had so much fight in them–and will deposit them on an island where they'll be rescued in due course."

Loved this story! It's BDSM done well. The characters treat each other with loving respect, but it doesn't fall into the trap of being sappy. Given the setting, a pirate's world, it would be easy to treat the subject as rough trade. The author avoids that trap and tells a fun, sweet story.Product details

After reading "Glory Days" I am sorry to say I expected more from this author.
The setting is great but it could have been better developped and while there are great pages others are no more than mediocre; characterization and pacing leave to be desired.
Probably the story could have benefited from a greater number of pages to allow it to evolve more convincingly and to give more scope to the side characters.
I liked this book. I learned things about pirates. I liked the story line. I wish it was longer and to know if the 2 MCs ended up together for love or was it just sex. I don't buy novellas because I just don't have that kind of money. I like to get my money's worth. I am interested in reading more from this author and will keep my eye out for a novel or a sale price on the novellas. I received this book from the lending library.
While I could see characterization issues and lack of general development as being a problem for some people, I really liked how the story was. The language used was particularly interesting and very well done, and I did love the concept. I felt as though the descriptions were done well and the way the story progressed was very much unusual in a good way. While I did not particularly like the characters, I did like the plot and I thought the execution was not bad in any sense.
